Yes, this service costs money. For details, please see our pricing page.
As of 2006 all clients are required to pay upfront. On rare occasions for clients with a long standing relationship with BetterEdit we may allow you to pay after the editing is completed.
If you are a first-time client and you're worried about making payment when you have tight assignment deadlines, please contact us a few days before you plan to send us your work.
We can tell you how much your job will cost and you can make payment in advance to ensure that you don't miss your deadline.
Yes. We also accept bank deposits. Please see our payment options for more information.
Yes, many students are allocated a portion of their grant, scholarship or sponsorship funding for editing and proofreading and have used this to purchase our services. Please check with your sponsors for advice.
We use the word count function in Microsoft Word. If you are using Word 2007, the word count will be at the bottom of your screen on the left-hand side. For earlier versions of Word, use the 'Word Count' function in the Tools menu (Tools ->Word Count - See image below). We use the word count of the document you send us, not the word count after editing. We include the references and the bibliography because we also edit your references and bibliography to make sure they are consistent. If you do not want us to edit any section of your document, let us know when you submit your document and we will omit that section from the word count.
No. We are not an assignment writing service and we do not do any research for you or provide you with new content. You must complete the research and write your content first, before sending it to us for editing.
If you get someone else to write your assignment and you hand it in as your own work, you must be aware that you are committing an act of plagiarism and can be kicked out of your university, college or school. If you are an international student, you also risk losing your visa. Having someone else write your assignment constitutes cheating.
Our service can help you to pass or get a great grade, but you need to write the content yourself first. If you are concerned about plagiarism check with your professor or look up the official plagiarism policy at your university.
No. If you copy content directly from another source, this is classed as plagiarism. We do not reword plagiarized content. Instead, you can rephrase it or take the content and use it as inspiration or research to create your own words or back up your essay argument. Once you have done this, you can send this material to us, and we will be happy to edit it.
No. We have never heard of any student getting into trouble with a lecturer, tutor or university for using our service.
In fact, the person who marks your assignment will often be appreciative of proofreading and may even recommend you use our service. You should be marked on your content, critical thinking and research abilities, and not hindered by your written English skills.
Our service helps you to present your ideas clearly so that you can be graded for your understanding of the subject, not on your written English.
If you are concerned about plagiarism check with your professor about professional proofreading or look up the official plagiarism policy at your university.
Yes, you may nominate a preferred editor when you submit your document. We can't always guarantee that the editor you want will be available to meet your deadline. If your preferred editor is unavailable, we'll recommend an editor who is available.
Yes. As we are an Internet-based company we can help anyone who has access to e-mail. Our base of operations is in Australia and our editors come from all over the world.
Yes, we certainly can. Every one of our editors has excellent written English skills so as long as your document is written in English we can help.
Our staff have years of experience writing, assessing and editing academic documents. It is not our job to create new ideas for you, but to help you express your own ideas more clearly.
Therefore, we do not need to have an in-depth knowledge of your subject matter. From your document we can quickly learn about your topic and identify mistakes in logic and errors in continuity between different parts of your work.
It's highly likely that our editors have worked on a document from your field in the past, given that they work on hundreds of documents each year. If a situation arises in which we cannot continue to work on your document, we will contact you immediately. There has never been a case where we have not been able to provide help to a student regardless of the topic of their paper.
Yes, by all means, especially if the material provides guidelines on referencing and word counts. Make sure you tell us which documents are to be edited and which are supplementary materials only and not to be edited.
Yes and no. We cannot tell you whether you have answered a question correctly or whether your argument is sound. This would be plagiarism on your part since your content would not be your own. We are very careful regarding this point because universities have very strict rules regarding assignment originality.
What we can do, however, is work on any technical aspects of your writing such as the structure of your argument, how you develop your points and how you explain concepts, as well as grammar.
We also provide you with written feedback to explain any changes made and help you to improve your work for next time.
In 99% of cases, clients are pleased with our work the first time. However, we are very happy to revise or clarify any part of our work. We provide revisions at no extra charge, so long as they are within the boundaries of the original project. If you request additional work on new content or a change of formatting to that which was first requested, there may be an additional charge.
Additional charges are at the discretion of the editor, but bear in mind that you will always be informed of any additional charges before we begin work.
No, we do not provide in person tutoring services. We only work through the Internet via email.
Yes, we are available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. If you have a tight deadline please contact us in advance.
The first thing you should do is make sure you don't have a SPAM email filter or similar blocking email sent from BetterEdit. Be certain to 'white-list' (permit) our email address - firstname.lastname@example.org. If you have second and third back-up email accounts please make sure we know about them so we can send your document to all your email accounts. Also make sure your email account is not set to filter attachments since we send your edited files as Microsoft Word attachments.
If you are worried about your email account not working please contact us to arrange an alternative document return method.
It depends which service you ordered. For jobs under 5000 words we provide a 48 hour and express 24 hour service and in most cases can meet an under 24 hour deadline (more details are available at our pricing page). For larger documents rates are between three days and two weeks. In general we can meet most deadlines as long as you provide at least one hour per 1000 words for editing. You can always contact us to make sure we can meet your deadline.
